Royal Government Issues Sub-Decree Creating Two More Communes of Poipet City

Banteay Meanchey: The Royal Government of Cambodia has issued a sub-decree signed by Prime Minister Hun Sen on 20 August, creating two new communes in Poipet city at the request of the Banteay Meanchey provincial administration. These are Sangkats or Communes of O'Chrov and Orussey.

Sangkat O'Chrov was created by pulling out seven villages from Sangkat Poipet namely, O'Chrov, Kbal Koh, Kbal Spean 1, Kbal Spean 2, Samaki Meanchey, Prey Prich and Poipet. Meanwhile, Sangkat Orussey was formed out of five villages under the jurisdiction of Sangkat Phsar Kandal. These are the villages of Orussey, Prachea Thom Keut, Toul Pong, Or Neang and Prey Kup.

After the sub-decree on the establishment of two new communes, Poipet city has now a total of five communes, in addition to Phsar Kandal, Poipet and Nimit .
